The Serendib Endowment is incorporated

The Serendib Endowment Ltd has been incorporated as an Australian public company limited by guarantee, ACN 698 867 408, ABN 73 698 867 408.

The constitution establishes a permanent endowment fund for Sri Lanka. It requires the corpus to be preserved intact and never distributed or expended, sets three charitable purposes directed at Sri Lanka, and directs any surplus on a winding up to another charity with similar purposes rather than to members.

Three directors have been appointed: Sasenka Abeysooriya, Sajanie Tennekoon and Dulip Ranasinghe. They are the company's officers and hold the decision-making power and the duties that go with it. The constitution requires a minimum of three directors and permits up to nine.

An application for registration as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission is in progress.
