Shoes and wet weather gear, 45 children
Forty-five orphaned or single-parent children supported with shoes and rain coats during a severe weather event in the highlands, delivered directly through our community contacts on the ground.
A severe weather event in the highlands left families without the basics needed to keep children at school. Wet feet and no rain gear is a small problem in a dry country and a serious one at altitude in the monsoon, where it keeps children home for weeks.
Forty-five children, all orphaned or from single-parent households, received shoes and rain coats. Goods were bought locally rather than shipped, which costs less, arrives faster, and keeps the money in the local economy.
The distribution was made through community contacts we have worked with for years. Nobody stood between the goods and the children.
